Katherine (“Katie”) Johnson became an attorney because she wanted a career with a purpose. She was inspired by her father, a former Swat Team Captain and retired Assistant Chief of Police, to pursue a career where she could help others and make a positive impact on their life. Born and raised in Jupiter, Florida, she completed her undergraduate studies in Business Management at Florida State University where she graduated cum laude. Katie then relocated to Jacksonville in 2009 for law school where she earned her Juris Doctor and Family Law Certificate Degree from Florida Coastal School of Law.
During law school, Katie clerked for Judge Melanie May with Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal where she handled appeals for family and criminal law cases. She also worked in the law school’s Family Law Clinic for two semesters where she represented clients in family law proceedings. Receiving the highest grade in her class, Katie was the recipient of the Book Award for Pre-Trial Litigation Drafting.
Three years after admission to the Florida Bar in 2012, Katie joined Zisser Law where she practices exclusively family law. She represents her clients in divorce and custody related matters, including: divorce; modifications of alimony, child support and custody; prosecution and defense of domestic violence cases; paternity cases; and grandparents’ rights cases. Katie has always found herself activing as a counselor to her friends and an advocate for those who could not or were afraid to stand up for themselves. Her approach to family law is no different. Katie is here to support you legally and emotionally through these difficult times so you can pursue a better future for yourself and family.
Outside of the office and spending time with her family, Katie and her husband Shawn enjoy hanging out at the beach, watching Florida State football and weekend getaways. They also recently became the “parents” of a French bulldog puppy named Josie.
