Barry Zisser

Barry Zisser

Attorney Of Counsel

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Barry Zisser spent most of his youth playing and enjoying the American past-time, baseball. After high-school, he attended college at the City University of the City of New York, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Accounting in 1956. From there, Barry served as a United States Air Force Officer as an instrument rated pilot. While stationed in Savannah, Barry met his wife of now 57-years, Eunice. After his service in the Air Force, Barry continued his education at the University of Florida, College of Law, where he attained his LLB degree in 1962. Later, in 1967 it would be replaced by a Juris Doctorate Degree.

Over the course of the years, Barry and Eunice raised two children, Melinda Zisser, an airline pilot, and Howard Zisser, a medical doctor. They are now the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.

Between 1963 and 1965, Barry began practicing as an associate attorney in Jacksonville. In 1965, he became an Assistant Public Defender, which prompted him for the role of Chief Assistant Public Defender from 1968 to 1970, while establishing his own firm and practicing in civil law. That firm would later be known as Zisser, Levy & Brown.

In 1970, Barry gained the title of Assistant State Attorney, all while expanding his firm into Zisser, Robinson, Brown, Nowlis, Maciejewski & Cabrey, P.A.. During this time, Barry showed favoritism towards the practice of Family Law, with a major emphasis on domestic relations cases, child custody, equitable distribution and domestic violence. In 2015, the law firm would become known as Zisser Law.

Over the decades, Barry devoted his time and energy into his practice. His dedication paid off by the numerous honors he has been given, including the Beth Shalom, Man of the Year Award.

Barry was elected by his peers to be a MASTER of the Florida Family Law Inn of Court and was elected as Vice President Emeritus of the Inn. In addition, he was honored by the Inn as the 2005 recipient of the prestigious Rudy Hernandez, Florida Family Law American Inn of Court Advocacy Award, presented to him as the outstanding family law attorney of the year.

Barry is extremely active in community affairs. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Omni Federal Credit Union, the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Alliance of Jacksonville, the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation, and the Board of Directors of the Southeast Region United Synagogue. Barry also served as President of Beth Shalom Congregation and was designated as the recipient of the Yo-Etz Award, an award designated to provide a lifetime membership as a member of the Board of Directors of Beth Shalom Congregation in Jacksonville, Fl.

Barry is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He still assists the other lawyers in the firm in civil cases as well as criminal cases.

In his spare time, he and his wife enjoy spending time on their boat and vacationing. They also spend as much time as they can with their grandchildren, who also share his same sweet tooth. Barry and his wife can be seen enjoying watching the Jaguars, baseball or Gator Basketball games.
